FROM THE LIVING ARTS
Alive! Green Valentines... two weeks after Valentines the tired stems of the
South American roses end up in the trash. Where is the love in THAT?
Hellebores...
Weston Farms offers living, blooming 3-year old plants that can be
incorporated into any landscape or container garden. Hellebores are a
welcome addition as their dark green foliage is evergreen. Late winter
blooms in shades of purples, pinks, and white offer a perennial reminder of
love!
Starting at $15
Vintage planters for home and garden... Erin Weston was once given the advice to collect what you can afford and
love. The vintage planters used by florists in the 1950’s and 1960’s fit the
bill to perfection. These ceramic planters in shades of green and black are
updated with modern plants which will enhance any hip home or office decor.
Starting at $25
Potted bulbs...
The blooms of daffodils inspire hope and cheer. Weston offers an exciting
assortment of bulbs including doubles, pinks, and miniature potted plants.
The blooms can be enjoyed indoors for Valentine’s Day, then planted outside
in landscape or container. Daffodils will endure for decades.
Starting at $10
Blooming branches... Working with designer Brienne Gluvna has been such a pleasure! Containers
filled with pebbles and water can be enjoyed indoors and planted in
landscape or containers after the cold winter months have passed. The glass
containers have a decided modern look and feel. This Valentine sentiment
need not end up in a landfill!
Starting at $10
Sweetheart trees...
The name alone would make cupid proud! Popularized by the late J.C.
Raulston, this speciman deserves a spot in the garden due to unique seasonal
interest. This compact 10-foot tree flowers in May-June and fruits in
October with crimson pods revealing steely-blue seeds. Leaves turn deep
mahogany in fall. The bark holds winter interest with purple striations.
$18
Japanese maple seedlings... 'Acer Palmatum' is a classic and enduring tree, perfect to give to your
valentine. Just as love endures and grows through the seasons, so do these
trees. The 3-4’ saplings are in gallon containers. This classic tree has
AMAZING fall color, small stature and fantastic durability. Japanese
Maples are disease resistant and very easy to grow. They are suitable as
both container and landscaping trees. This selection has been propagated
from mature seedlings that are now 30+ years old. They can be grown in sun
or shade. The seedlings emerge in a rainbow of reds and greens, are green in
the summer, and turn scarlet in the fall.
